Tuesday June 30, 2009

Mr. Peyman Shadman is an Iranian citizen and a Baha’i who lives in the city of Semnan.  On the midnight of Tuesday June 30th 2009, unidentified men broke the glass storefront of the Mr. Shadman’s automotive supply store and set the place on fire by throwing explosives inside.

As the store carried flammables like motor oil, the fire did tremendous damage.  The firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to homes nearby.  Mr. Shadman’s store has been set on fire several times but the authorities have shown no effort to stop the arsonists.

Also on Wednesday July 1st, Ms. Manijeh Monzavian, a Baha’i citizen of Semnan, was released on $100,000.00 bail after fifteen days in detention.  She is awaiting her trial for the charge of being a Baha’i.

On the same day Mr. Siamak Iqani, a citizen of Semnan, was tried on the charge of being a Baha’i.  He had his lawyer with him at the trial.  The court will give its ruling in a few days
